In a few words
Gretel and Hansel are two cheerful children, despite their parents' poverty. While picking strawberries, they get lost in the forest where a witch lives... with a terrible appetite.
Concept
The famous Grimm's tale inspired Humperdinck, an emulator of Wagner, to create a fairy tale opera that is still very popular in Germany. This classic of the repertoire, adapted and lightened, will seduce the audience, all generations included, thanks to its translation into French and its interpretation by the young artists of the Maîtrise Populaire of the Opéra-Comique.
Press review
“Sarah Koné is always as precise as flexible, as didactic as playful.”
