François Lis graduated from the CNSMDP in 2003. He completed his training at the Salzburg Mozarteum and then at the Merola Program (San Francisco Opera). In 2005, he was nominated in the "Lyric Revelation" category at the Victoires de la musique awards.
He performs in France (operas in Lille, Lyon, Paris, Bordeaux, Marseille, du Rhin, Théâtre du Châtelet, TCE, Théâtre du Capitole, Saint-Denis and Montpellier festivals) and abroad (operas in Dublin, the Netherlands, La Monnaie, Opernhaus Zurich, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Glyndebourne and Skopje festivals, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Caracas, Teatro Real, Seoul Arts Center, Hollywood Bowl).
He has worked in the Baroque repertoire (L'incoronazione di Poppea, L'Orfeo, King Arthur, Les Boréades, Platée, Les Paladins, Hippolyte et Aricie, Dardanus, Alcina, Les Indes Galantes, La Naissance d'Osiris), Mozart (Don Giovanni, Le nozze di Figaro, Die Zauberflöte, Thamos, König in Ägypten), Rossini (La Pietra del Paragone, La Cenerentola, Il barbiere di Siviglia), French Romantic (Les Huguenots, Les Troyens, Béatrice et Bénédict, Roméo et Juliette/Berlioz, Les Contes d'Hoffmann) and Italian Romantic (La Bohème, La Traviata, La Forza del Destino), as well as 20th century (Ariadne auf Naxos, L'enfant et les sortilèges, Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher). In concert, he sings in Il re Teodoro in Venezia (Paisiello), Thérèse (Massenet), Mozart's Requiem, and L'Enfance du Christ (Berlioz). Recent projects include Tosca in Toulon, L'Africaine and Les Huguenots in Marseille, and Davel by Ch. Favre in Lausanne. At the Opéra-Comique, he is Zuniga in Carmen (2023).
