After studying with Mady Mesplé and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, Jean-Sébastien Bou's career quickly took off in Europe.

He established himself in the French repertoire with roles such as the title role in Pelléas et Mélisande, Valentin (Faust), Escamillo (Carmen), the title roles in Werther, Hamlet... His eclectic repertoire ranges from baroque to twentieth-century music (L'Amour des trois Oranges / Farfarello, The Rape of Lucretia / Tarquinus... ) and contemporary works (Claude d'Escaich's Shirine at the Opéra de Lyon and Point d'orgue at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and the Opéra de Bordeaux, Dusapin's Il Viaggio, Dante at the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Philippe Boesmans' On purge bébé at the Théâtre de la Monnaie).

He also regularly sings the Italian repertoire (Don Pasquale / Malatesta, Falstaff / Ford, La Bohème / Marcello, Madama Butterfly / Sharpless...), Mozart (Don Giovanni / title role, Così fan tutte / Don Alfonso...), Rossini (Il Barbiere di Siviglia / Figaro), (Le Comte Ory / Raimbaud) and the title role in Eugène Onéguine...

He has appeared on the most prestigious stages: Opéra national de Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Opéra-Comique, Opéra de Bordeaux, Opéra de Lyon, Opéra de Marseille, Opéra national du Rhin, Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, Liceu de Barcelone, Opernhaus Zürich, Grand théâtre de Genève, Salzburg Festival...
