See all the castOnce upon a time there was a princess, a long desired single child, cursed on birth by a witch to have absolute lightness: physical lightness that prevented her from touching the ground, mental lightness that made her laugh at everything. The king and the queen wondered what could be done with a daughter who could not grasp the gravity of things. Luckily, the princess was adventurous.
Written for children and those with a child’s soul, George MacDonald’s tales enchanted J.R.R. Tolkien and Lewis Carroll. The Light Princess calls to mind, with humor and poetry, the way children confront the gravity of the adult world and how parents learn to recognize the uniqueness of each child.
Violeta Cruz and Jos Houben devised a score and an entertainment that arise from the sonorous outbursts of life in which electronics meet chanson, concrete sounds and the sound palette of opera.
