Mathieu Romano, James Bonas and Ewan Jones coordinate the multiple talents of the Maîtrise – singing, theatre and dance – at the service of a utopia that will amuse young audiences and adults eager to share their love of opera, as much as it will make them think.

A youth embracing social codes but vanishing into thin air; another refusing the assignment and living in hiding. A society promoting fictitious happiness; another running away from the Law and from sight. Growing up or refusing to do so, leaving or staying. Two worlds, half a choice to be made straddling borders.

Commissioned by the Opéra‑Comique for the Maîtrise Populaire, this operatic fiction is based on a libretto by Adrien Borne, who drew inspiration from his workshops with the Maîtrise’s pupils, and on a score written by the greatest composer for children’s voices, Isabelle Aboulker.

Creation on a libretto by Adrien Borne. Music composed by Isabelle Aboulker.

Composer Isabelle Aboulker, • Libretto Adrien Borne • Musical direction Mathieu Romano • Artistic direction of the Maîtrise Populaire Sarah Koné • Stage direction James Bonas • Performers of the Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra-Comique • Orchestra Les Frivolités Parisiennes
