Hicham Berrada's work combines intuition and knowledge, science and poetry. In his pieces, he explores scientific protocols that closely mimic various natural processes and/or climatic conditions. "I try to master the phenomena I employ as a painter masters pigments and brushes. My brushes and pigments are heat, cold, magnetism, and light."

Born in 1986 in Casablanca, Morocco, Hicham Berrada lives and works in Paris and Roubaix. His work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions: at the Louvre-Lens, Hayward Gallery in London, Bernard A. Zuckerman Museum of Art in Kennesaw (USA), Punta della Dogana - Pinault Collection in Venice, Zadkine Museum in Paris, Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Abbaye de Maubuisson, Château de Versailles gardens, Mac Val in Vitry-sur-Seine, macLyon, Le Fresnoy–National Studio of Contemporary Arts in Tourcoing, ZKM in Karlsruhe (Germany), Frankfurter Kunstverein in Frankfurt, MoMA PS1 in New York, ICAS–Institute of Contemporary Arts in Singapore, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, and Banco de la República in Bogotá. He has also participated in several biennials: Yokohama Triennale, Taipei Biennial, Riga Biennial, Lyon Biennial, BIM–Biennale of Moving Images in Geneva, and Yinchuan Biennial in China.

The artist has also performed at the Villa Medici and MAXXI in Rome, Les Abattoirs in Toulouse, Mac Val, and during Nuits Blanches in Paris, Brussels, and Melbourne. He has held several residencies, including at the Villa Medici in Rome and the Pinault Collection in Lens.
