For over 310 years, the Opéra-Comique has fostered the radiance of lyric art through the eclecticism of its creations, its commitment to accessibility and the reach of its productions.
This 2025-2026 season has been composed with each and every one of you in mind: discerning connoisseurs, literary enthusiasts, students stepping into the world of opera, young parents sharing wonders with their children, educators guiding eager minds, and those who experience the world differently yet no less vividly.
Embracing the world, the Opéra-Comique will bring to life drawn from ancient myths, beloved folktales or Romantic literature. Across the stage of the Salle Favart and in collaboration with our production partners, we will continue to explore our two grand cycles, Goethe and Lyrical Tragedy - illuminating the profound kinship between French and German cultures. The librettos and scores of yesterday and today were created by nomadic polyglot souls. Gluck, Donizetti, Offenbach, Massenet, Krása, and the contemporary Matthias Pintscher each proved that opera, crafted by visionaries of diverse origins, offers a realm of artistic exchange at the heart of Europe. Their works will be will be brought to life by Lotte de Beer, Wajdi Mouawad, Muriel Mayette-Holtz, Pierre Dumoussaud, Raphaël Pichon, Speranza Scappucci…
Clarity, compassion, justice, hope, solidarity are our universal values. They find their fullest expression within the walls of the Opéra-Comique, carried aloft by theatre and music. They also pulse at the heart of the artistic evolution of the young voices of the Maîtrise Populaire, and imbue them with the necessary spark to enchant us. The Opéra-Comique Academy nurtures a new generation of performers, and we invite you to follow their journeys throughout the season.
With deep gratitude, I extend my thanks to our supervising body, the State, to Aline Foriel-Destezet, our principal patron this season, and to all those companies and individuals alike who lend their generous support to our artistic ambitions. Their commitment allows us to develop ambitious projects focused on openness and transmission.
With the brilliance of our opera house’s artists and artisans, it is with great joy that I invite you discover our 2025-2026 season-a true “Invitation to voyage”.
