Conference: opera and comic opera librettos in the spotlight.
How can we do justice to these often criticized or incriminated texts? In what context were they produced? How has the ideal libretto, the dream of every composer, been defined over time? Let's also examine our practices: can we cut them, rewrite them, translate them? From Quinault to Martin Crimp, via Favart, Scribe, Maeterlinck and so many others, let's look at this literary genre without which scores would not exist, and which says a lot about lyric theater and its challenges.
